Melissa Tymchuk was named Wednesday as the new director of marketing and public relations for Northeast Georgia Health System.She has been serving as interim director since former director Cathy Bowers retired earlier this year, and she has been with the system for 15 years, 11 in the public relations department, according to a news release from the hospital.“One of the reasons I’ve enjoyed working here so much is it’s very easy to promote an organization that provides such exceptional care to our community,” Tymchuk said. “Our physicians and our staff do such an excellent job.”Tymchuk recently received the W.G. Mealor Award from the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce, the highest leadership recognition for an individual member. She was recognized specifically for her volunteer work as the chamber’s vice chairwoman of marketing and communications.She also serves on the Vision 2030 Board of Directors, is a graduate of Leadership Hall County and a current member of the 2012 Leadership Georgia Class, one of only 60 selected statewide for outstanding leadership contributions, according to the news release.“Melissa also has a strong, demonstrated ability to effectively analyze and manage complex communications messages,” said Tracy Vardeman, vice president of strategic planning and marketing at NGHS. “She and the NGHS marketing team have been responsible for numerous national and statewide awards for marketing excellence, creativity and effectiveness.”
