Gainesville man charged with 200 counts in sexual exploitation of a minor case

A Gainesville man was charged with 200 additional counts in a child pornography investigation, according to authorities.

Robert Justin Adams, 41, was charged with 200 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor Thursday, June 10.

Adams was originally arrested earlier this year after Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators searched his home in February. He was booked in to the Hall County Jail March 8 on six counts of electronic exploitation of a minor and released on a $56,200 bond.

“Subsequent forensic processing of Adams’ cell phone showed he possessed at least five images of child pornography on the device,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in a March news release. “Additionally, the initial investigation showed that on Aug. 2, 2020, Adams distributed at least one image of child pornography by uploading it to his Tumblr account.”

The investigation, which was a collaboration with the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children task force, continued with processing of electronic devices seized during the search warrant, Booth said.

“The latest charges stem from videos of child sexual abuse found on a computer seized from Adams’ home during the execution of a search warrant earlier this year,” Booth said.

Investigators obtained the warrant Wednesday, June 9, and Adams was arrested the next day.

He is in the Hall County Jail without bond as of noon Friday, June 11.

The case is still under investigation, and Booth said additional charges are possible.
