Hailed by critics as “a grand departure from the usual,” the Manhattan Piano Trio will present a concert of classical music at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Piedmont College in Demorest.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Piedmont students, faculty, and staff are admitted free. The concert will be held in the chapel at the Center for Worship and Music, at 992 Central Ave.
Now celebrating its 10th season, the Manhattan Piano Trio is among the busiest groups on the classical music scene, having performed hundreds of concerts in almost 40 states. The Washington Post described the Trio as “impressive” and “outstanding,” while the Sarasota Herald Tribune said “one seldom is privileged to enjoy music of such a wide range of styles performed with self-effacing skill and relaxed assurance.”
The Trio includes violinist Wayne Lee of San Francisco; cellist Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir of Reykjavik, Iceland; and pianist Milana Strezeva of Moldova. In addition to their concert schedule, the members of MPT are teachers, soloists and recitalists who have performed internationally. The performers all completed graduate degrees at the Juilliard School, and the group still enjoys an active presence in Manhattan.
