For the last four decades, fly boys and girls have been heading to the Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport, 1137 Aviation Way, in Gainesville to show off their toys.

This year will be no different. The members of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 611 are buzzing about preparing for the 43rd Cracker Fly-in at the Gainesville airport.

The family-friendly aviation version of a classic "car" show, which is open to the public, begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday with a pancake breakfast and aircraft fly-in.

Last year’s event attracted more than 100 pilots. After all of the participants fly in, attendees will have the opportunity to get a closer look at the planes and to talk the pilots.

In addition to enjoying the sights, fly-in enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to take a ride in a WACO biplane or a Huey helicopter.

There will also be children’s activities, including a bounce house.

General admission is $2 per person at the gate, but children younger than 13 and fly-in pilots are free. For more information, call 770-560-2356.
