Saturday marked the end of the season for a pair of local volleyball teams, as both North Hall and Cherokee Bluff fell in state quarterfinal matchups.
The Lady Trojans took on Jackson County at 11 a.m., falling 25-21, 24-26, 25-18, 25-19. North Hall’s seniors finish their careers with four consecutive region 7-3A tournament championships, as well as four straight appearances in at least the quarterfinals in state playoffs.
Later in the day, Cherokee Bluff traveled to Holy Innocents to go up against two-time defending state champions Pace Academy at 6 p.m. The Lady Bears fell 25-11, 25-11, 25-13, with Madi Phillips contributing two kills and five blocks and Tristan Boling adding seven digs.
Cherokee Bluff qualified for state quartefinals in only the second year of the program’s existence.
SOFTBALL
The Buford softball team’s season came to an end Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Harris County in the state tournament.
Ansleigh Hollifield got the start for the Lady Wolves, and gave up only four hits in the defeat. Buford finishes the year with a 24-11 record.
