The North Hall boys and White County girls cross country teams recorded victories at the Last Chance Invitational on Saturday in Carrollton.
The Trojans competed in the Class AAAAA race but still came away with the win after four runners finished in the top 10. Quintin Miles took first at 16 minutes, 46.47 seconds, followed by Zack Hill in fourth (17:03.03) Bryce Schuebert in fifth (17:16.08) and Bailey Pless in ninth (17:31.54).
North Hall’s 32 points were 52 points better than second-place Sequoyah and 59 better than third-place Westminster. White County finished fourth.
Jenna Gearing led the White County girls with a first-place time of 19:42.29. Teammate Kristen Mitchell finished second with 21:38.27, Kaitlyn Gearing was fourth at 21:55.84, Sinead O’Bryant was sixth at 22:01.11 and Megan Norris was eighth at 22:26.91.
The Lady Warriors’ 21 points were 66 better than second-place Columbus and more than 100 points ahead of third-place Decatur. The North Hall girls placed ninth.
North Hall and White County rejoin the rest of Region 7-AAA for the region meet Thursday at Unicoi State Park in Helen, followed by the Class AAA state meet Nov. 9 in Carrollton.
