High school scoreboard: North Hall girls tennis team advances to region championship match

North Hall’s girls tennis team will compete in the Region 7-AAA championship match after defeating Dawson County 4-0 in Tuesday’s region tournament semifinals.

The Lady Trojans will play for the region title on Thursday at Dawson County against an opponent that is to be determined.

In the semifinal match, Anna Montgomery (6-0, 6-0), Lauren Davis (6-0, 6-2) and Christen Barnes (6-0, 6-0) won in singles. Sydney Patterson/Annalise Gregory won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

North Hall coach Robert Woodworth said his team was focused and ready for the region tournament.

“They have a lot of energy and are bursting with energy,” Woodworth said. “They have desire and persistence, they don’t quit. Since the beginning of the season, they just keep getting better.”


LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 5, TOWNS COUNTY 1: Jordan Thomas had the go-ahead, two-RBI single when the game was tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning to put Lakeview Academy up for good in Tuesday’s game.

Josh Henderson pitched a complete game, allowing one run and throwing six strikeouts for Lakeview Academy (5-15). Brannon Browner finished the night with an RBI and a stolen base, while teammate JD Roark also drove in a run for the Lions.

Lakeview Academy visits George Walton Academy at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Monroe.


EAST HALL BOYS 6, JACKSON COUNTY 2: Sergio Turcios had a hat trick with an assist for East Hall in Tuesday’s game.

Brandon Callahan, Carlos Castrejon and Oscar Gonzalez scored a goal for the Vikings (12-3, 4-0 Region 7-AAA). East Hall plays Greater Atlanta Christian at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Norcross.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 2, TOWNS COUNTY 1: Meredith Tucker scored the game-winning header for Lakeview Academy in Tuesday’s contest. Carmen Wagner scored her 101st career goal during the match.


The Gainesville girls team defeated Lanier 153-161 on Tuesday at the Sugar Hill Golf Club in Suwanee. Carded scorers for the Lady Red Elephants were Morgan Nichol, Jada Johnson and Julia Ferguson.

Gainesville plays Habersham Central next Monday at the Apple Mountain Golf Club.


RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 16, RIVER RIDGE 14: Nico DePaoli had 14 saves for Riverside Military Academy on Tuesday in Cherokee County.

Chase Kaufman scored five goals for Riverside Military Academy, Max Garcia had a hat trick with an assist and Jensen Hess had two goals with three assists. Gage Roth and Chris Sweetenburg both added two goals apiece for the Eagles, while teammate Sheymus Maloney finished the night with one goal.
