Shikiya Brown tallied 13 points to lead Gainesville’s girls to a 54-34 win over Kell in the first round of the Class AAAAA tournament on Wednesday in Marietta.

Kayla Kelly added 11 points for the Lady Red Elephants (21-8), which face Greenbrier in the second round of the state tournament on Friday in Evans.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 66, NORTHWEST WHITFIELD 55: Taylor Anne Kelley put up a career-high 29 points for the Lady Trojans in the first round of the Class AAAA state tournament on Wednesday in Tunnel Hill.

Sadie Cleveland added 16 points for North Hall (18-11), and Kensi Gillespie pitched in 15.

The Lady Trojans visit Veterans High on Friday or Saturday in Kathleen.

CARTERSVILLE BOYS 56, NORTH HALL 33: Harrison Harper notched 10 points for the Trojans in the first round of the Class AAAA tournament on Wednesday in Cartersville.

Carson Heinen added eight points for North Hall, which finishes the season 14-15 overall.

BUFORD BOYS 87, NORTHWEST WHITFIELD 54: Tre Hansborough recorded 23 points and seven assists for the Wolves (16-12) in the first round of the Class AAAA state tournament on Wednesday in Buford.

Taylor Mills added 17 points, and Aaron Auer and Will Springer contributed 11 points each.

Buford plays host to Upson Lee on Saturday. Game time is still to be determined.

SEQUOYAH GIRLS 62, FLOWERY BRANCH 60: A buzzer-beater rebound shot broke the tie but wasn’t in the Lady Falcons’ favor on Wednesday in Canton.

Breanna Locke led Flowery Branch with 13 points in the game. Kierra Knight added 10 points, and Lexie Sengkhammee had nine.

The Lady Falcons finish the season 21-5 overall.
