LSU defeats Lady Bulldogs

ATHENS — Allison Hightower scored 16 points and LSU defeated Georgia 57-46 on Thursday night.

LaSondra Barrett added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Tigers (14-9, 7-4 Southeastern Conference).

LSU, which took a 10-2 lead with 14:30 left in the first half, stretched its advantage to 21-12 on a pair of free throws by Barrett with 8:57 left until halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs (15-11, 5-6) trimmed the deficit to two points twice, but trailed 32-25 at halftime.
Georgia closed the gap to 42-39 with 7:55 left in the game, but the Lady Tigers went on a 10-0 run for a 52-39 lead with 3:33 remaining capped by two free throws by Kristen Morris.

Angel Robinson had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Georgia, which lost its fourth straight game. The four-game losing streak is the longest single-season streak in coach Andy Landers' 30 years at Georgia.
