Moore extends lead at City Championship

Stuart Moore extended his lead in the City Championship through 36 holes after shooting a 3-under 69 in Saturday’s second round at Chattahoochee Golf Club.

Moore, a Gainesville High graduate and former Auburn University golfer, sits at 5-under par overall and holds an eight-stroke lead.

Parks Brown and 2011 champion Will Peeples are tied for second with a 3-over 147. Brown shot a 72 in the second round, one stroke better than Peeples’ 73.

Pep Brown, The Times’ Boys Golfer of the Year, is tied for fifth at 4-over 148 with high school teammate Nathan Williams.

Moore, Peeples, Parks Brown and Pep Brown are scheduled to tee off for the final round at 1:40 p.m.
today. Championship flight tee times begin at 12:30 p.m.

Justin Mark Cochran shot a 74 to finish the second round with a 151. He ended the day one stroke ahead of Jim Foote, who carded a 74 to wrap up 36 holes with a 152.

Joe Turner and Ricky Brown are tied at 154. North Hall’s Hunter Young has a 156.

The first round of the City Championship’s three other flights began Saturday, with Roger Stapp leading the first flight with a 76, Doug

Glidden leading the second flight with a 73 and Will Hicks leading the third flight with an 80.

Second-round tee times for non-championship flights begin at 11:30 a.m. today and continue until 12:20 p.m.
