Local golf: Shell, Keller, Viola earn first place in best ball event

The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a best ball team, low net, event on Tuesday. The first place team was Martha Shell, Linda Keller and Ruth Viola. In second place, it was Joanne Rabdau, Beulah Land and Sally Woo. Third place was Ann Hollobaugh, Pam Jackson and Kirsten Coleman, and the team of Mona White, Sherry Dubose, Jackie Somerville and Bebe Blount finished fourth.

Closest to the pin winners were Mona White (No. 3) and Joanne Raabdau (No. 17).

The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played at Chimney Oaks Golf Course this week. First place went to the team of Michael Gordy, Tommy Lowery, Randy Gordy and Jim Cornett. Second place was the team of Stan Davidson Jr., Daryl Dunckel, Jerry Johns and Doug Van. Third place was the team of Joe Roberts, Larry Cleek, Tom Sexton and Ken Chahoy.

Closest to the pin winners were Lowery (No. 2 and No. 17), Sam McGee (No. 6) and Roberts (No. 13).

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played an individual flighted tournament this week. In the first flight, Gene Weschler took first, Paul Payne took second, Jack Costello took third and Tom Sexton and Charlie Chamberlin tied for fourth. In the second flight, Clay Bartlett took first while Larry Cohan, Jim Van Dyke and Marty Anderson all tied for second. In the third flight, Dennis Pope took first, Dave Long came in second, Johnny Little took third and Roy Lyle came in fourth.

Closest to the pin winners were Sexton (No. 3), Karl Goellner (No. 5), Bob Pyne (No. 12) and Van Dyke (No. 17).
