Malcolm Jackson scored 32 points as the Young Harris men’s basketball team defeated Clayton State University 102-86 on Thursday in Young Harris.
Steve Viterbo added 21 points and Frank Adams added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Mountain Lions while Vince Martin added 16 points and nine assists.
The Mountain Lions improved to 8-3 overall and to 3-1 in the Peach Belt Conference. Young Harris plays host to Georgia College at 3:30 p.m. today in Young Harris.
CLAYTON STATE WOMEN 75, YOUNG HARRIS 57 (THURSDAY): Drameka Griggs scored 18 points to lead Clayton State University on Thursday in Young Harris.
Leading Young Harris, Ladondra Johnson finished with 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Johnson’s 34 points set the new single-game standard for most points and is just five points shy of becoming the program’s first-ever 1,000-point scorer.
MONTEVALLO MEN 73, NORTH GEORGIA 54 (THURSDAY): Scott Windom led North Georgia with 13 points off the bench while freshman guard Corey Green tallied 10 points for North Georgia in their first conference loss of the season on Thursday in Dahlonega.
The win edges Montevallo ahead of North Georgia in the Peach Belt Conference West Division rankings and takes away the final team with an unbeaten record in Peach Belt action. The Saints are now 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the league, while the Falcons improve to 8-4 overall including a 4-1 conference mark.
The Saints travel Clayton State University at 7:30 tonight in Morrow.
