FLOWERY BRANCH — Lingering symptoms from a concussion have forced rookie linebacker Robert James to be shut down for the season by the Atlanta Falcons.

Post-concussion syndrome is shutting down Falcons rookie linebacker Robert James, for the season.
The Falcons waived/injured James, a fifth-round draft pick from Arizona State, on Tuesday after a specialist determined the linebacker was not recovering from a concussion as well as expected.

The Falcons will retain rights to James but will be able to fill the roster spot with another player.
James was listed behind Keith Brooking and Coy Wire at outside linebacker.
