Update, March 4: Single-lane closures are set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily Wednesday, March 4, through Monday, March 16, on Lanier Islands Parkway so crews can put down asphalt topping and install sidewalks and sod.
The closures will occur between Holiday Marina and McEver Road, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. The work is weather permitting.
Update, Feb. 24: The completion of Lanier Islands Parkway’s widening in South Hall has been delayed until late April because of too much cold, rainy weather this winter.
“There’s not an official date right now, as we are still evaluating the weather chart at this time,” Georgia Department of Transportation district spokeswoman Katie Strickland said.
However, the DOT hopes to have the final asphalt topping down by the end of February, she said.
Previous story: Single-lane closures are taking place on Lanier Islands Parkway/Ga. 347 through Monday, Feb. 3, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Crews are doing final asphalt paving along the road 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.
The project is about a month from completion, district spokeswoman Katie Strickland said.
The $10.4 million project initially was set for completion Oct. 31, but the contractor was granted an extension because of a delay in the approval of an Army Corps of Engineers permit.
A center turn lane is being added along a 2.4-mile stretch, along with a 10-foot multi-use path on one side of the road and a 5-foot sidewalk on the other. The project runs between McEver Road and Lanier Islands.
