The second of two men suspected in the death of a 15-year-old Buford boy behind a Thompson Mill Road gas station has been captured, according to authorities.

Denzel Wilburn, 21, of Buford, was arrested Wednesday, July 3, and taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center. Police considered Savion Dillard, 20, of Jonesboro, on the run until this week.

Gwinnett County Police said the marshals task force arrested Dillard Tuesday, July 16, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

“Dillard does not have any additional charges in Wisconsin, therefore he will be extradited back to Georgia in the near future,” Cpl. Michele Pihera wrote in a news release.

Police have been investigating the Monday, July 1, death of Branden Gerena, of Buford, who authorities said was shot behind a Thompson Mill Road gas station.

“Detectives believe that Dillard and Wilburn traveled to the incident location to rob the victim and witness, who were selling marijuana.  Dillard is believed to have shot the suspect, while Wilburn drove the vehicle and received proceeds of the robbery and murder,” Cpl. Wilbert Rundles wrote in a news release.

Dillard and Wilburn were both charged with armed robbery. Wilburn was solely charged with conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, while Dillard faces the most serious charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
