A jury returned multiple guilty verdicts for a Murrayville man accused of child molestation.

Matthew David Cwik, 49, was found guilty Wednesday, Aug. 8, on one count of aggravated child molestation and five counts of child molestation, according to court documents.

Sentencing has not yet been set.

According to Hall County’s online docket, the offenses took place between June 2012 and July 2015.

“We were obviously disappointed in the verdict. There are a lot of good things about Matthew Cwik, and unfortunately, the jury was unable to get past the girl’s testimony about what he did,” Cwik’s attorney Page Pate said.

Pate said they contested the charges because they felt the allegations were overblown.

“We don’t think that all of the charges reflected what actually happened,” he said.

Superior Court Judge Clint Bearden heard the case this week.
