Expansion, delays extend timeline of sewer project

The sewer line construction closing Crescent Drive was supposed to last about one month, according to the city of Gainesville, but it has now been three months. What is causing the delay and are there penalties for the contractor for failing to complete the project in a timely manner? That particular project has been expanded and ran into several delays, which have extended its estimated completion date, according to Myron Bennett, engineering and construction division manager for the Public Utilities department.
