A 17-year-old girl who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted Sunday escaped her alleged captor when a neighbor knocked on the door, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
Brandon Scott Nix, 27, of Gainesville, is accused of grabbing the girl around the neck, forcing her into his car and taking her to his Wood Creek Place residence.
According to warrants filed Tuesday, Nix allegedly strangled and choked her, “causing her to lose consciousness during a kidnapping and sexual assault ...”
Nix then allegedly confined the girl in his bedroom and sexually assaulted her, according to the warrants. A knock on the door from a neighbor, Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said, allowed her to escape.
“She was able to get freed by a neighbor that came and interrupted what was going on,” Bailes said.
Nix has sought legal counsel, Bailes said, and will have a committal hearing Nov. 17 in magistrate court.
“He did make statements that he had observed this victim multiple times while running,” she said. “You could say that she was targeted in a sense.”
After fleeing from the Wood Creek Place residence, the victim called 911 for help.
“She actually ran to her home,” Bailes said.
Nix is charged with false imprisonment, aggravated sodomy, misdemeanor sexual battery, aggravated assault, attempted rape and kidnapping.
