A Gainesville man was killed after failing to yield the right of way on his bike when turning onto Harmony Church Road on Friday morning, authorities said.

Alex Castillo, 20, left a driveway in the 4000 block of Harmony Church Road heading east and was struck in the rear of his bike with the front of a car driven by Jourdan Smith, 29, of Gainesville, said Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Jonathan Munger.

No other people were in Smith’s vehicle.

Castillo’s bicycle struck a mailbox before coming to a rest. He was later pronounced dead at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

No charges will be filed because Castillo was at fault in the wreck, Munger said.
