More than $45,000 worth of methamphetamine was seized by Hall County and Gainesville’s anti-drug task force in a Tuesday bust.
Officers with the Gainesville Police Department and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office arrested Christopher Wayne Best, of Canton, N.C., and seized methamphetamine, MDMA, a rifle that had been reported stolen and $1,000 in cash.
Officers found Best, 34, at a residence in the 5000 block of Maiden Lane in Lula with approximately 1 pound of meth, 14 pills and the rifle, according to a Wednesday announcement from the sheriff’s office. Best was arrested without incident.
He has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of MDMA with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving a stolen firearm and giving false information to an officer.
Best has been booked into Hall County Jail and the issue is still being investigated, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Hall County-Gainesville Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad and Hall County’s Active Criminal Enforcement Unit were involved in the arrest.
