Heather and Tipton Sholes

Miss Heather Michelle Dixon and Mr. Tipton Dovey Sholes were united in marriage at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 22, 2014, at Historic Honey Horn in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Pierce Kendal Dixon III of Gainesville. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Earle Sholes of Gainesville.

The Rev. Shon Nelson Peppers performed the ceremony. Violinists Ms. Alyssa Jae and Mr. Mario Incorvaia, violist Ms. Arline Rosen and cellist Mr. Charlie McCracken presented a program of wedding music.

The bride was presented in marriage by her father. The bride’s sister Mrs. Laura Dixon Rogers of Auburn, Ala., was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bride’s cousins Miss Emily Carter Brooksher of Bozeman, Mont., and Miss Rebecca Caroline Dixon of Lawrenceville, the bride’s friends Miss Alysse M. Gear of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Natalie Hughs Kinard of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Amanda Cone Rosenlund of Greenville, S.C., Mrs. Jennifer LeFevre Schuetze of Gainesville, Mrs. Bennett Brown Sizemore of Greenville, S.C., and Miss Susan Ashley Smithson of Atlanta, and the groom’s sister Mrs. Kristen Sholes Sullivan of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The bride’s friends Miss Rachel Hensley Johnson and Miss Hollyn Elizabeth Johnson, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., were the flower girls. Wedding party attendants were the bride’s friends Mrs. Kristen King Basquill of Columbia, S.C., Miss Caroline Lucille Herdener of Mauldin, S.C., Miss Sally Elizabeth Martin of Gainesville, and Mrs. Irene Nettles Pothoven of Spartanburg, S.C.

The groom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were the bride’s brother Mr. Christopher Kendal Dixon of Gainesville, the groom’s friends Mr. Charles Michael Hawkins of Gainesville, Mr. Jordan Lee Little of Gainesville, Mr. Larry Martin Merritt of Atlanta, Mr. Joshua Paul Myers of Macon, and Mr. Robert Lewis Nixon Wren of Jackson, Tenn., the groom’s cousin Mr. Phillip Christopher Sholes of Richmond, Va., the groom’s brother Dr. Thomas Taylor Sholes of Augusta, and the groom’s brother-in-law Mr. Michael McDonald Sullivan of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The bride’s nephew Mr. Taylor George Rogers Jr. of Auburn, Ala., was the ring bearer.

Program attendants were the bride’s niece and nephew, Miss Heather Elizabeth Dixon and Mr. Anthony Kendal Dixon. Mrs. Katie Greer Cox provided the reading of Scripture.

The bride carried a sixpence from her paternal grandparents, wedding rings from her maternal grandparents, and a piece of her mother’s veil.

The groom’s parents gave a rehearsal dinner at the Shore House at the Omni Hotel Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head Island, S.C., on the eve of the wedding.

The bride’s parents gave a reception at the Mary Ann Peebles Pavilion at Historic Honey Horn in Hilton Head Island, S.C., following the ceremony.

Following a honeymoon cruise of the Caribbean, the couple reside in Macon.
