Dahlonega's Christmas season kicks off in earnest on Nov. 29. Here's what's in the works

The Dahlonega Square will be full of family activities, entertainment, and holiday cheer to celebrate the annual lighting of the Christmas tree and square and to kick off Dahlonega’s “Old-Fashioned Christmas” festival on Nov. 29. 

Highlights will include a concert full of Christmas songs benefiting Dahlonega’s Holly Theater, horse-drawn carriage rides through the square, extended holiday shopping hours at local businesses, and a wide array of food trucks and vendors. 

The square and tree will remain decorated through Jan. 12 and will be home to a number of events throughout the season.

Events throughout the day include

  • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Extended downtown merchant shopping hours

  • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Horse drawn carriage rides

  • 3 p.m. to 7p.m.: Food trucks in the park

  • 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: Lighting of the square and tree

  • 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: 2019 Christmas in Dahlonega collector’s ornament unveiled

  • 8 p.m.: Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings benefit performance
