Golfers will putt for pets during the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia’s 27th annual Dog Day Afternoon Golf Tournament.

“The proceeds will help provide low-cost pet health care services in the community as well as support the animals in our care until they are adopted,” HSNEGA Interim Executive Director Julie Edwards said, noting the event is the society’s longest running fundraiser.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20 at the Chattahoochee Golf Course, 301 Tommy Aaron Drive, Gainesville. The entry fee is $125 per player and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, prizes, door prizes and a “doggie bag” full of treats.

The tournament format is Lauderdale, four players per team. Handicaps are determined by adding each team’s handicap together and dividing by 10. Team handicap will be deducted from the gross score to determine the team’s net score.

Players will receive a catered lunch at 11 a.m. from Longstreet Cafe and may participate in the closing reception. Awards will be handed out to the top three teams (net and gross).

To register or for more information about being a sponsor or donating a door prize, call Julie Edwards at 770-532-6617.
