Elachee Nature Science Center's 10th annual spring benefit event, "Flights of Fancy," is set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, offering craft beer and a menu of grilled dishes.

The event benefits Elachee's environmental education programs for students and families and the center's conservation efforts.

Attendees also can enjoy a performance by musical guest Jennings, the one-name monicker for Gainesville native Mary Jennings. The New York-based singer-songwriter draws influences from artists like Imogen Heap, Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan and Moby. She has worked with Billboard-charting songwriters, toured with national artists and has had her music used in a number of popular television shows.

Jim Walters, president and CEO of Walters Management Company will serve as auctioneer. Live and silent auctions will feature an array of unique birdhouses, garden sculptures, whimsical yard art, bird feeders, planters and gardening gift baskets created and donated by local artists and friends of Elachee. Walters is Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and he sits on the boards of Northeast Georgia Medical Center Foundation, Elachee Nature Science Center, the Texas Consumer Finance Association and is a past president and current director of the Georgia Industrial Loan Association.

Local radio personality Jones P. "Jay" Andrews will act as master of ceremonies.
