Sports briefs: Wrestling to be featured on HCS-TV

Coverage of the Hall County Duals and Individual Wrestling Championships is featured on this week’s edition of Hall County Sports Television.

Flowery Branch wrestling coach Shane Lancaster and his Falcons claimed their third straight county title Saturday. Senior standout Danny Bell (119 pounds) became the first four-time county champ in Hall history Friday and went on to be named the most outstanding wrestler in the lightweight classes (103-140 pounds).

Bell’s teammate, Chris Amos (171) was named the most outstanding wrestler for the upper weights (145-285 pounds).

Hall County Sports airs each week on channels 19 and 23 at 8 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 9 tonight, 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Sunday.

Sprint Cup driver to participate in Lanier National Speedway event

David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, will serve as master of ceremonies and compete in the third annual Ice Cold Shriners Bowl Race, a benefit race for Shriners Hospitals for Children, on Saturday and Sunday at the Lanier National Speedway in Braselton.

Ragan named Shriners Hospitals for Children as his official charity in July 2008.

Throughout the weekend, Ragan will give rides in a Shriners Hospitals for Children truck for a $50 donation to the health care system.

A Shriners Hospitals for Children-themed helmet signed by Ragan will also be auctioned off live, and a second helmet signed by Ragan, his Roush Fenway Racing teammates and the legendary Jack Roush will be auctioned off at www.lanierspeedway.com.

Ragan will participate in the Late Model race on Saturday in a custom built Shriners Hospitals for Children race car.
