Riverside Military Academy repeats Region 8-A championship despite the injury of star athlete
The Eagles scored 180 points in their first place finish.

The Riverside Military Academy track and field team defended its Region 8-A championship during the two-day meet that wrapped up Monday at George Walton Academy in Monroe. 

Orlando Stevens won the 110-hurdles (14.93 seconds) and long jump (22 feet, 2.5 inches) for the Eagles. Stevens broke his leg running the 300 hurdles, and will not be available for the Class A private schools state championship meet, according to Eagles coach Tim Cummings.

Shad Dabney won the 100 meter (11.22 seconds) for the Eagles.

Isaac Teasley won the triple jump (45-1), while taking second in the 200 (22.51) and 400 (48.93).

Wookdong Harry Kim won the discus (155-2) for Riverside Military.

The Eagles also won the 400-meter relay (42.93) and took first by seven seconds in the 1600 relay (3 minutes, 24.81 seconds). 

Next up, Riverside Military looks to defend its state title, starting May 9 at Berry College in Rome.
