The Atlanta Falcons have reached an injury settlement with guard Jon Asamoah, ending the guard’s two-year stay with the team.

Asamoah did not play this season because of a hip injury.

Atlanta signed Asamoah to a five-year contract with a $4 million signing bonus in March 2014. He started all 15 of his games last year at right guard, but at 6-foot-4, 315 pounds was considered too big in Atlanta’s first year running coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s zone blocking scheme.

Veteran Chris Chester was signed to take his place.

The Flacons host the undefeated Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
