Running for Clemson University, North Hall High graduate Ty McCormack won the collegiate section of the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Thursday at the 117th Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.

McCormack, who won by more than two seconds, set a personal best with his time of 9 minutes, 1.1 seconds.

McCormack’s time was also faster than the quickest time among the Olympic Development athletes who ran Thursday.
