Local golf: Wells finishes first at Chattahoochee event

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly individual flighted strokes game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville.

Don Wells took top honors in the white flight. Eddie Johnson, Gary Palmer and Bob Watson had a three-way tie for second place.
In the gold first flight, Bob Henderson won first place. Bill Ingram won second place, Ed Pledger won third place and Don Gage and

Marty Anderson tied for fourth place.

Guy Long and Jere Cochran tied for first place in the gold second flight, Wayne Nelson came in second place and Jimmy Johnson and Jim Carroll tied for fourth place.

Closest to the pin winners were Long (No. 3), Leroy Harper (No. 5), Bob Pyne (No. 12) and Carlyle Cox (No. 17).

LUNA’S TUESDAY GOLF GROUP: The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville.
First place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Larry Miller, Cleve Brown, and Jerry Johns. Second place went to the team of Jack Barrett, Randy Gordy, Joe Campbell, and Stan Davidson Sr. Third place went to the team of Daryl Dunckel, Tommy Lowery, Don Smallwood, and Doug Van.

Closest to the pin winners were Dunckel (Village No. 4) Tom Sexton (Village No. 7), and Weschler (Mill No. 2 & No.5).

DPG GOLF GROUP: The DPG golf group played two matches this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville.
Monday’s match was won by Horace Smallwood with a score of -3. Second place was captured by Denis Jordan with a score of -4 and Terrence Dale and Doug Padgett shared the third place honors with scores of -5.

Wednesday’s match consisted of team and individual play and was won by Smallwood with a +4 score. Smallwood also shared first place honors in the team event with Charley Kilby. Second place in the team event went to the team of Dale and Dave Jetter.
