The following newspapers voted in this poll: The Albany Herald, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Augusta Chronicle, The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, The Daily Tribune News (Cartersville), The Gwinnett Daily Post, The Marietta Daily Journal, and The Telegraph (Macon).

Three area basketball teams are ranked in the Georgia Sports Writers Association poll released Monday.

The Buford girls remain ranked first in Class AA with six first-place votes. The Gainesville girls hang on to a top-10 spot, ranked ninth in Class AAA.

The West Hall boys are also ranked ninth in Class AAA and are the only are boys team ranked. The Jefferson boys are no longer ranked, but received two votes in Class AA. For complete rankings, see page 2B.
