Prep roundup: Indians top Pickens

The Lumpkin County high boys basketball team defeated Pickens County 52-37 Tuesday night in Dahlonega.

According to Lumpkin County coach Chris Guthrie, the Indians (2-5, 1-2 Region 7-AAA) utilized a smothering defense and a third quarter offensive surge to best the Dragons (0-7, 0-3 Region 7-AAA).

Lumpkin County’s Shawn Chapman led all scorers with 17 points. E. J. Young added 15, and Chris Guthrie chipped in 13.

Bob Jaeperse lead the Dragons with 13.

Lumpkin County plays host to West Forsyth on Saturday following the wrestling match. Pickens County travels to Union county Friday.

Greater Gwinnett Christian 58, Riverside 55

Riverside Military Academy dropped its final game before Christmas break to Greater Gwinnett Christian on Thursday night in Norcross. Charlie Riley led the Eagles (2-4) with 21 points and Dylan Setzekorn had 16. Joseph Lister, a senior, scored 12 for Riverside.

Riverside visits Mount de Sales at 6 p.m. on Jan. 4 in Macon.
