Gainesville High sophomore Jaymee Carnes poured in 23 points and nine rebounds to lead her team to a 75-58 win against White County on Tuesday night in Cleveland.
Taylor Ricketts scored 13 and Hailey Solomon added 10 for the Lady Red Elephants (3-1).
Kiana Glasper had seven points, five assists and four steals for Gainesville. Amanda Watkins scored a game-high 27 points for the Lady Warriors, and Lindsey Wiley added 11.
Gainesville plays host to Chestatee at 7 p.m. Friday night. White County visits Fannin County on Friday night.
Gainesville boys 66, White County 51
Allan Dockery scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds and George Manomano added 17 points Tuesday night in Cleveland.
The Red Elephants (2-2) used a 27-point third quarter to put the game out of reach for White County (1-2) which was led by Tyler Norman with 17 points and Adrian Hamilton with 14 points.
Gerald Ford nearly had a double-double for Gainesville with eight points and 10 boards.
The Red Elephants next play host to Chestatee at 8:30 p.m. Friday while the Warriors visit Fannin County on Friday night.
East Hall girls 58, West Forsyth 27
Sada Wheeler had a double-double, with 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Tierra Benton had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists Tuesday night at East Hall. The top- ranked Lady Vikings (4-0) held Subregion 7A-AAA nemesis West Forsyth to just four points in the first quarter, 15 in the half, while scoring 35 themselves on their way to the win.
East Hall next plays at Flowery Branch at 7 p.m. Friday.
East Hall boys 85, West Forsyth 50
Patrick Hoggard led the Vikings (1-0) in their season opener with 18 points and Dedric Ware added 14. East Hall senior Trevor Bishop also played well with 11 points.
The No. 3-ranked Vikings started strong with a 21-6 lead over the Wolverines, and the Vikings extended their lead to 50-19 by halftime.
East Hall visits Flowery Branch at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
Johnson boys 49, Gilmer 38
Devaris Finch scored 18 for the Knights (3-0) coupled with a strong defensive effort to secure a win on Tuesday night in Oakwood. The Bobcats only scored two points in the second quarter and trailed 26-13 at halftime.
Johnson visits Lumpkin County at 8:30 p.m. Friday night in Dahlonega.
Pickens girls 76, North Hall 71
Lady Trojans senior Letiecia Davenport scored 21 points and Elizabeth Williams added 18 Tuesday night in Jasper. After trailing 49-26 at halftime, North Hall (0-1) rallied to outscore the Lady Dragons 45-27 in the second half.
North Hall plays host to West Hall at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
North Hall boys 67, Pickens 41
Josh Haymore hit for 23 points and Chris Crews added 12 for the Trojans in their win Tuesday night in Jasper. North Hall (1-0) took a commanding 20-point lead into halftime and didn’t let up, outscoring the Dragons (0-1) 27-20 in the second half.
North Hall plays host to West Hall at 6 p.m. Saturday
Flowery Branch girls 50, Chestatee 38
Peyton Robertson scored 12 and Kasey Smith added 10 to lead the Lady War Eagles (1-3) on Tuesday night.
Chestatee visits Gainesville at 7 p.m. Friday.
Union County 38, Lakeview Academy 36
Janelle Francis led the Lady Lions with 12 points in their loss Tuesday night at Lakeview Academy.
The score was knotted at 25 at the start of the fourth quarter despite Lakeview (0-1) having a five-point lead at halftime.
Lakeview next plays host to Pace Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
Lakeview Academy boys 60, Union County 59
Lions senior David Pruett scored 23 and was 13-for-13 on free throws on Tuesday night in Gainesville. Brett Armour scored nine and Garrett Wiley added 8 for Lakeview Academy. After playing to a 30-30 tie at halftime, the Lions outscored the Panthers 17-7 in the third quarter.
Lakeview Academy plays host to Pace Academy at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
Buford girls 58, Holy Innocents 39
The Class AA No. 2-ranked Lady Wolves scored 27 first-half points and 25 points in the fourth quarter en route to their rout of Holy Innocents on Tuesday night in Buford. Blanche Alverson led Buford (1-0) with 17 points while Katie Lynn and Jocelyn Danley scored 13 a piece.
Buford travels to Wesleyan on Saturday to take on Class AAAA No. 1-ranked Marist. Play begins at 5:15 p.m.
Holy Innocents boys 69, Buford 64
Despite having the lead at the start of the fourth quarter, Buford only scored four points in the period to Holy Innocents’ (2-2) 18 en rout to a loss Tuesday night at Buford High. Jeramie Moore led the Wolves (0-1) with 28 points, 20 in the first half. T.J. Flowers added 12 points.
Buford next travels to Lovett to face the Lions at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Dawson County girls 47, Forsyth Central 44
Katelyn Westbrook scored 13 and led three Lady Tigers (2-1) in double figures Tuesday night. Dawson County’s Rachael Biddy scored 12 and Katie Lebel added 11. Dawson County plays host to Oglethorpe County at 7 p.m. Friday night in Dawsonville.
Dawson County boys 51, Central Forsyth 39
Alan Gilleland had 13 points and Robert O’Quinn added 11 to lead Dawson County on Tuesday night at Dawson County High.
