MACON -- Jefferson and Commerce both cruised to the second round of the wrestling state duals tournament Friday at the Macon Centreplex.
Meanwhile, Class AAA schools North Hall and Chestatee both fell into the consolation bracket after first round losses.
Jefferson, the Class AA defending state champs, pounded Greater Atlanta Christian 58-11 in the opening round. The Dragons will take on East Laurens at 5:15 tonight with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
Fellow Jackson County school, Class A Commerce, was relentless in a 62-18 win over Mt. Zion, Carroll to advance to the semifinals of the eight-team bracket. The Tigers will grapple with Holy Innocents Saturday at 11 a.m.
Chestatee lost 46-20 to Heritage, Catoosa in the opening round and will compete against Cairo at 8:30 tonight in the consolation bracket.
And Area 8-AAA champs North Hall took an early lead but fell to Eastside 41-34 in the first round and will face off against Carrollton in the consolation bracket of the double-elimination tournament at 8:30 p.m.
