Team Georgia Weightlifting will attend the USA Junior Team Camp at the Olympic Training Center from Dec. to Jan. 1 in Colorado Springs, CO.
Six athletes and two coaches have been invited to attend the USA Weightlifting (USAW) Junior Team in preparation for the National Junior Championship where the USA Junior World Team will be selected.
The athletes selected were Ellen Kercher (48 kilograms) a senior from Flowery Branch, Hope Stockel (58 kilograms) a junior from Flowery Branch, Riley Farrow (69 kilograms) a junior from Chestatee, Jenny Arthur (69 kilograms) a senior from Chestatee, Megan Poole (75 kilograms) a freshman from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Jimmy McIntyre (69 kilograms) a junior Flowery Branch.
The coaches that were selected were C.J. Stockel, USAW Senior International Coach, from Flowery Branch and Stan Luttrell, USAW International Coach, from Chestatee.
The athletes attending the camp were chosen by ranking of the top 25 lifters in the country, boys and girls combined.
The ranking is based on predicted placement at the Junior World Championships per weight class. Team Georgia has 25 percent of the attendees at the camp. Resident coach, Zygmunt Smalcerz will be leading the camp.
