HS Scoreboard: North Georgia Christian boys basketball advances to GICAA II-A state championship
Will Owens scores 22 as the Chargers eliminate Arlington Christian School in the semifinal round

The North Georgia Christian boys basketball team will be playing for the GICAA II-A state championship after a 70-65 come-from-behind win over Arlington Christian School on Friday at Gordon State College.

Will Owens led the Chargers with 22 points, Norris Rettiger added 13 and Justin Law finished with 12.

North Georgia Christian will play for the title today at 3 p.m. at Gordon State College in Barnesville.


The Flowery Branch baseball team defeated West Forsyth, 4-3, Friday night in Cumming.

Dylan Childress was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Falcons. Blake Coxworth and Jackson Harrell had two RBIs apiece.
Harrell pitched four innings and was credited with the win.

Flowery Branch (1-1) next plays Jackson County on Wednesday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.


Lakeview Academy’s Carmen Wagner scored the lone goal for the Lady Lions as they defeated East Hall 1-0 on Friday.

Jackie Allen assisted on the goal, and goalkeeper Ansley Rochester made five saves in the shutout.

Lakeview Academy (3-0) visits Athens Academy on Tuesday.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 7, HOLY INNOCENTS 4: Eagles’ Carlos Carrillo scored his first hat trick of the season Friday night.

Jorge Quesada had two goals, while Manuel Chivaca and Ricardo Policarpo each scored one.

Riverside Military visits Clarke Central 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 2, WEST HALL 2: The Trojans had goals from Sammy Diaz and Abraham Salvador-Munoz on Friday.

Jackson Madonna assisted on both goals.

North Hall (0-1-2) hosts Habersham Central 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

JOHNSON BOYS 9, EASTSIDE 1: The Knights’ Fabian Arbaca scored four goals Friday night in Covington.

Bryant Anaya and David Flores each had two goals and Gerardo Molina made three saves.

Johnson (3-0) visits Oconee County 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

LUMPKIN COUNTY GIRLS 3, JOHNSON 0: The Lady Knights conceded two goals in the first half and one in the second on a corner kick Friday night.

Johnson visits Oconee County 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.


The Gainesville High boys lacrosse team lost their season opener to Pinecrest Academy, 7-5, on Friday.

Red Elephants’ Luke Snelling had one goal and three assists, Bill Hood had 2 goals and Thomas Alexander and Jack Brand each scored a goal. Sam Terray had 16 saves.

Gainesville (0-1) visits Parkview 5 p.m. Friday.
