Banks County entered the Area 4-AAA Duals with the No. 1 seed and a bye in the first round on Friday in Watkinsville. Once they took to the mats, the Leopards topped Elbert County in the quarterfinals 66-5 to move on to face Jackson County in the semifinals at 9 a.m. today at Oconee County High in Watkinsville.
Winning by pin for the Leopards were Chris McCrackin at 106 pounds, Dylan Suttles at 113, Taylor Wood at 130, Mason Patton (126), Francisco Hurtado (132), Tony Fultz (138) Dylan Wine (145) and Eli Smallwood (182). Wes Faulkner recorded a win by forfeit at in the 160-pound weight class for Banks County.
Third-seeded North Hall also had a bye to the 4-AAA quarterfinals, where the team faced White County, winning 49-22. The Trojans return to action this morning against No. 2 seed Oconee County.
Taylor Marett (106), Michael Carew (120), Tyler Goss (132), Andy Voss (138), Tyler Kratzer (145) and Nolan Tucker (182) all won by pin for North Hall.
AREA 4-AA: Jefferson won the 4-AA title with three consecutive wins against Union County (75-6), Washington-Wilkes (73-6) and Social Circle (57-6) on Friday in Jefferson.
Chase Piperato, Joshua Harris, Tyler Marinelli, Jake Sherman, Zach Rhymer, Jace McColskey, Aaron Anderson, Tradd Porter, and Trevor Reiff all recorded multiple pins for the Dragons. Price Joiner, Kyle Kashuba, Ben Kelly, Tanner Thurmond, Macario Lester and Jack Dollar all recorded a pin for Jefferson.
The Dragons travel to the state duals tournament Jan. 8-9 in Macon.
