High school scoreboard: Vikings stun eighth-ranked Lumpkin County

The East Hall High baseball team surprised Region 7-AAA with a 15-7 upset over Class AAA’s eighth-ranked Lumpkin County on Wednesday at East Hall Park.

Trailing by four runs, the Vikings (8-15, 7-14 Region 7-AAA) scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to take a 12-6 lead, then added three more in the sixth.

Drew Adams threw a complete game for East Hall, allowing seven runs on 10 hits. The junior helped himself at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Cody Davidson also homered for the Vikings and finished the night 3-for-5 with six RBIs. Greg Edwards collected three hits and Desmon Gardner and Hunter Poole each added two hits for East Hall, which has won three straight.

East Hall plays host to Gainesville at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Lumpkin County (18-4, 16-4) visits Pickens at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Flowery Branch 11, Chestatee 1

Preston Bostic pitched a complete game while getting two hits at the plate for the Falcons on Wednesday at Hog Mountain Sports Complex in Flowery Branch.

Jimmy Fitzgerald was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, James Wilson, Jordan Wilson and Bucky Free each had two hits and James Mills homered for Flowery Branch (17-4, 16-4 Region 7-AAA).

Flowery Branch visits Creekview at 5:55 p.m. today. Chestatee (6-15, 6-15) visits Johnson at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville 13, Pickens 3

Sloan Strickland homered and had three RBIs to lead the Red Elephants at the plate Wednesday at Ivey-Watson Field.

Ryan Griffith was 3-for-4 and had two RBIs for Gainesville (13-9, 13-8 Region 7-AAA). David Gonzalez was 2-for-3 and Stephen Mason added two RBIs.

Andy Edmondson allowed one hit and struck our four in four innings pitched to earn the win for the Red Elephants.

Gainesville visits East Hall at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

North Hall 13, West Hall 5

Jackson Coker was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and Nate Strong had three runs scored and two RBIs for the Trojans on Wednesday in Oakwood.

Trey Pinson added a pair of doubles for North Hall (12-10, 12-8 Region 7-AAA). Chris Stevens pitched six innings to earn the win for the Trojans.

Caleb Stewart led West Hall (8-14, 6-14) with a double and an RBI.

North Hall visits White County at 5:30 p.m. Friday. West Hall visits Gilmer at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
