Maggie Roper led Buford with 22 digs and 18 kills as the Lady Wolves defeated East Hall (25-12, 25-16) and lost to Blessed Trinity (25-18, 25-18) in two games in the Area 5-AAA volleyball tournament on Tuesday at Blessed Trinity in Roswell.

Gabby Curry added 16 kills for Buford (30-10), and Morgan Mitchell had 26 assists.

For East Hall, Kara Hix led with 40 digs, nine service points, six kills and two aces in the loss to Buford and a win against Decatur (22-25, 25-17, 25-17) in the tournament.

Cassida Shockley added 29 assists, nine digs, five service points and a kill for the Lady Vikings (29-18), and Tarryn Long had 16 kills, 14 service points, 11 digs, four blocks and three aces.

East Hall and Buford play again in the tournament for third and fourth place on Thursday at North Hall in Gainesville.

NORTH HALL SPLITS IN TOURNEY: Kristina Gregory paced the Lady Trojans with 16 assists, four kills, three aces and three digs in a win against West Hall (25-14, 25-10) and a loss to St. Pius X (25-16, 25-18) in the Area 5-AAA tournament on Tuesday at St. Pius X in Atlanta.

Sydney Cleveland had 12 kills, seven digs and an ace for North Hall, and Makenzie Bryant added 10 digs and an ace.

North Hall hosts the next round of the tournament on Thursday in Gainesville.

JEFFERSON THIRD IN 6-AA: The Lady Dragons beat Rabun County, 25-21, 23-25, 25-9, to take third place in the Area 6-AA volleyball tournament on Tuesday in Tiger.

Jefferson fell to Greater Atlanta Christian (25-21, 25-20) in the first round to drop into the consolation bracket.

The Lady Dragons visit Toombs County in the first round of the Class AA state tournament on Oct. 16 in Lyons.

FLOWERY BRANCH SPLITS TRI-MATCH: Chanel Lear recorded 12 assists and five aces to lead the Lady Falcons in a win against Johnson (25-22, 22-25, 25-23) and a loss to Lanier (25-15, 25-20) on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Madeline Tulk and Katie Hall each added five kills, Erin McGlone had six kills, and Gabrielle Burke tallied 10 assists for Flowery Branch.

LAKEVIEW BEATS BIG RED: Shelby Ross led Lakeview Academy with 16 service points, 12 kills, nine digs and three aces in a win against Gainesville (25-27, 25-23, 25-21) on senior night on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Katie White added 20 digs, 10 kills and an ace for the Lady Lions, and Samantha Versteeg had 24 digs. Bailey Towles notched 17 assists and three aces.

Lakeview Academy plays in the Region 8-A tournament on Thursday in Athens.
