High school scoreboard: North Hall's Rogers sets strikeout record

North Hall High pitcher Megan Rogers struck out her 164th batter to set a school single-season record while pitching a perfect game in the Lady Trojans’ 12-0 win against Johnson on Thursday.

Hannah Stevens was 3-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases for North Hall (12-10-1, 7-4 Region 7-AAA). Kelsey Gibbs was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Brittany Smith was 2-for-3 with four RBI.

North Hall visits West Hall at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday. Johnson (0-17, 0-11 Region 7-AAA) visits Commerce at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Buford 5, Westminster 0

Class AA’s top-ranked Lady Wolves ended their regular season Thursday in Buford with a win.

With the win, the Lady Wolves (24-2-1, 6-0 Region 6-AA) enter the Region 6-AA tournament with a 21-game unbeaten streak that dates back to Aug. 28.

Melissa Dickie picked up her 11th win of the season with nine strikeouts and one hit allowed. She also had a no-hitter through five innings.

Chelsie Thomas was 2-for-3 with two runs and two stolen bases for Buford. Alysha Rudnik was also 2-for-3 and added a run.

Buford enters the Region 6-AA tournament with a first round bye, followed by a second-round game at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Greater Atlanta Christian.

White County 7, Flowery Branch 1

Stephanie Satterfield pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven to earn her 17th win of the season for the Lady Warriors on Thursday in Cleveland.

Morgan Jacobson was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs for White County (20-5, 9-2 Region 7-AAA).

White County visits West Forsyth at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Jefferson 8, Rabun County 0

Kara Perry pitched a one-hitter and struck out 10 en route to her 10th win of the season for the Lady Dragons on Thursday in Jefferson.

Brianna Caudell was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Jefferson (12-12, 5-2 Region 8-AA).

Jefferson plays host to East Jackson at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

VOLLEYBALL

West Hall splits road meet


The Lady Spartans defeated Clarke Central (17-25, 25-19, 25-21) and lost to Athens Academy (25-12, 25-15) on Thursday in Athens.

Jessica Hollis had 28 digs and one ace, Erica Grainger had 11 assists and four aces, Julie Walsh had three aces and 10 assists and McKenzie Jackson had five kills and one block for West Hall (14-18, 2-4 Area 7-AAA).

West Hall faces West Forstyh and Pickens at 6 p.m. Tuesday at West Forsyth.

North Hall splits home tri-meet

The Lady Trojans defeated Lakeview Academy (25-12, 25-20) and lost to North Forsyth (25-19, 25-20) on Thursday in Gainesville.

Kathryn Bell had 19 assists and six kills for North Hall (14-13, 4-3 Area 7-AAA). Sarita Madera had eight aces and three kills and Katherine Filchak had six kills and three blocks.

Lakeview Academy (9-14, 5-4 Area 8-A/AA) also lost to North Forsyth (25-10, 25-19). Louisa Jacobs finished the night with eight kills and four digs and Megan Rochester had two kills and seven digs. Morgan Black had 3.5 blocks against North Forsyth.

North Hall plays host to East Hall and Gilmer at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Lakeview Academy plays host to North Oconee at 5 p.m. Oct. 2.

North Georgia Christian wins on road

The Lady Chargers defeated New Creation in five games (25-16, 25-17, 25-27, 25-27, 15-12) on Thursday in McDonough.

Katherine Dunlap had 14 aces and Hannah Parker had 15 kills for North Georgia.

CROSS COUNTRY

Banks County tops local runners

The Leopards’ boys cross country team defeated Johnson and Habersham Central on Thursday in Mount Airy.

Johnson, who finished second with 41 points, was led by second-place Oscar Navarette and Stephen Hester, who finished sixth.

Emily Byers led the Lady Knights with a second-place finish in the girls race.

Johnson visits Chestatee on Tuesday for the Hall County Meet.
