Lakeview Academy baseball earns 3rd win of season

Taylor Simpson hit a three-run home run and a triple to finish with five RBIs as the Lakeview Academy baseball team defeated Prince Avenue, 13-6, on Tuesday in Athens.

Nick Drury added two hits, a double and two RBIs, while Ted Reynolds (2-for-3) drove in three runs for the Lions (3-3, 1-0 Region 8-A), which host Hebron Christian at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

UNION COUNTY 7, DAWSON COUNTY 2:
Zach Odom went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs to lead the Panthers to the win Tuesday in Dawsonville.

Brock Gordon (2-1) earned the win on the mound, throwing a complete game with six strikeouts, while Phillip Stubblefield and Daniel Coyne each added two RBIs for Union County (5-1, 1-0 Region 8A-AA), which visits Fannin County at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Luke Williamson hit a two-run home run for Dawson County. The Tigers visit Banks County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

BUFORD 8, WINDER-BARROW 5: Brian Clark went 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in the win Tuesday in Winder. Troy Herterick added a two-run home run for his only hit of the day, while Jamie Ritchie went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Buford (4-1). Josh Heddinger (2-0) threw a complete game with seven strikeouts for the Wolves, who visit Providence at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

GEORGE WALTON 17, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 6: Orland Lynch hit a two-run home run in the loss Tuesday in Gainesville. Riverside hosts Mount Pisgah at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Golf

GAINESVILLE GIRLS WIN TRI-MATCH:
With matching rounds of 43 from Meg Callahan and LeeAnn Noble, the Lady Red Elephants carded an 86 to win over Saint Pius X (107) and Johnson (113) on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Lauren Smith (56) was Tuesday's high scorer for the Lady Knights. Gainesville will face Johnson at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course.

FRANKLIN COUNTY GIRLS 85, LUMPKIN COUNTY 89: Morgan Wood carded a 40 and Taylor Gooch fired a 49 in the 8-hole match Tuesday at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega. Lumpkin County faces North Forsyth on March 16 at Hampton Golf Course in Cumming.

LUMPKIN COUNTY BOYS 156, FRANKLIN COUNTY 177: Aaron George carded a 35 and Joseph Jarrard added a 38 to lead the Indians to the win Tuesday at the Acahasta Golf Course in Dahlonega. Austin Booker (40) and Rhett Stringer (43) rounded out the scoring for Lumpkin County, which faces Pickens at 4 p.m. Thursday at Big Canoe Golf Course.

WEST HALL GIRLS 54, CHESTATEE 60 (Five holes):
Malorie Smith and Olivia Davis each carded a 27 for West Hall on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. The Lady Spartans face Stephens County at 4 p.m. Thursday at Royal Lakes Golf Course. Chestatee competes in the county championship beginning at 4 p.m. Monday at Royal Lakes.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 7, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0: Ricardo Gomez and Christian Gomez each scored two goals in the win Tuesday at City Park. Aiden Riesing added a goal and an assist for Gainesville (5-1, 3-0 Area 8B-AAA), which visits Chestatee at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 3, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0: Mary Catherine Dempsey scored a goal and added an assist in the win Tuesday at City Park. Anna Youmans and Laramey Head also scored for Gainesville (5-2, 3-1 Area 8-AAA), which visits Chestatee at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

CHESTATEE BOYS 9, FRANKLIN COUNTY 0: Roldan Reyes and Emmanuel Ibarra each scored three goals and Marco Rebollar added two goals in the win Tuesday in Gainesville. Chestatee (5-3, 2-1 Area 8A-AAA) hosts Gainesville at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Alexis Rebollar completed a first-half hat-trick in the win Tuesday in Gainesville. Sharon Sotelo added the fourth goal for Chestatee (4-1, 2-1 Area 8-AAA), which hosts Rabun Gap at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN BOYS 3, HORIZON CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 2: Andrew Pulliam scored two goals and Clay Cox added a goal and an assist in the win Tuesday. The Chargers (2-1), who trailed 2-0 with less than 10 minutes to play Tuesday, will face Colonial Hills at 4 p.m. Friday at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex.

WEST HALL BOYS 5, MONROE AREA 2: Edgar Jaimes scored two goals with two assists in the win Tuesday in Oakwood. Omar Castillo added two goals for West Hall (4-2-1, 2-1 Area 8-AAA), which hosts Oconee County at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
