Graham throws no-hitter, leads North Hall to win

Preston Graham threw a no-hitter to lead the North Hall baseball team to a 12-0 five-inning win over West Hall on Friday at North Hall High. Graham threw all five innings, recording four strike outs, while driving in two runs at the plate for the Trojans (3-1, 2-0 Region 8-AAA).

Whit Bowen, Jesse Strickland and Wade Phillips each had two hits for North Hall, with Strickland, Andrew Smith and Mason Savage each adding two RBIs. Phillips, Smith and Savage each recorded a triple for the Trojans, who face Lanier at 5:55 p.m. Monday.

FRANKLIN COUNTY 11, JOHNSON 1:
Logan Pethel, Taylor Whitmire, Chris White, A.J. Benefield and Jordan Green each had one hit in the loss Friday in Gainesville. White struck out seven on the mound for Johnson (2-2, 1-1 Region 8-AAA), which hosts White County at 5:55 p.m. Monday.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 8, FRANKLIN COUNTY 0:
Guillermo Santillian scored two goals to lead the defending state champion Red Elephants to the win Friday at Franklin County. Merly Valasquez, Roberto Nunez and Carlos Sanchez each added a goal and an assist, while Ricardo Gomez recorded two assists for Gainesville (4-2, 2-1 Region 8-AAA). The Red Elephants face Lumpkin County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Park.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 1, FRANKLIN COUNTY 0 (PK): Sidney Morrow converted the winning penalty kick to give the Lady Red Elephants the win Friday at Franklin County. Goalkeeper Hong Tran saved two penalty kicks to secure the win for Gainesville (4-2, 2-1 Area 8-AAA), which faces Lumpkin County at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Park.

BUFORD GIRLS 2, MOUNTAIN VIEW 0: Katie Garth and Ceely Coker each scored for the Lady Wolves (5-1) in the win Friday in Lawrenceville. Buford hosts Flowery Branch at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 3, HABERSHAM CENTRAL 2: Megan Kirk scored twice and Jacy Ramey scored once for Flowery Branch in the win Friday in Mount Airy. Abby Peacock added two assists for the Lady Falcons (4-3, 3-0 Region 8-AAAA), which visit Grady at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Tennis

JOHNSON GIRLS 5, WALNUT GROVE 0: Cady Nix, Maggie Turner and Harlee Robson swept singles, while the teams of Claire Crain/Emma Rowlett and Carlyn Ivey/Ryleigh Shannon swept doubles on Thursday in Loganville. Each match was won in straight sets for the Lady Knights, who visit Gainesville at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

NORTH OCONEE BOYS 3, JEFFERSON 2: Zack Bost and Blair Buffington won singles matches in straight sets, but Jefferson lost Thursday at home. The Dragons visit Jackson County at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

NORTH OCONEE GIRLS 4, JEFFERSON 1: Tristan McGarity had the lone win, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3 singles for Jefferson on Thursday at home. The Lady Dragons visit Jackson County at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

EAST HALL BOYS 5, FANNIN COUNTY 0: Dane Allen, Peter Heiu Truong and the teams of Carlos De La Cruz/Austin Greenway and Stephen Pope/Nathan Vandiver won in straight sets Thursday in Blue Ridge. Patricio Cruz also won for East Hall (1-1, 1-0 Region 8A-AA), which visits Habersham Central at 4 p.m. Monday.
