Crumley leads White County to win

With the scored tied at six in the top of the eighth inning, Luke Crumley stepped to the plate with two runners on and blasted a home run, giving White County a 9-6 lead on Oconee County. The Warriors (8-1, 7-1 Region 8-AAA) held on in the bottom half of the inning to earn the win Monday in Watkinsville.

Crumley also threw 5 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts and three hits in the no decision, and finished the game 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs.

David Sosebee went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for White County, which visits Monroe Area at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

GAINESVILLE 12, JOHNSON 1: Stephen Mason (3-1) threw a complete game with five strikeouts, while adding a double from the plate in the win Monday in Oakwood.

David Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and four RBIs for Gainesville (8-2, 6-2 Region 8-AAA), which visits Stephens County at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Trae Wilson hit a solo home run to produce the only run for Johnson (5-6, 4-5), which visits Chestatee at 5:55 p.m. Friday.

FLOWERY BRANCH 14, CLARKE CENTRAL 7: Brody Thomas went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, a triple and four stolen bases to lead the Falcons (6-1, 2-0 Region 8-AAAA) to the win Monday in Flowery Branch. Jessie Brookshire added three RBIs on 3-for-5 hitting for Flowery Branch, which hosts Habersham Central at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

WEST HALL 5, LANIER 4:
Chandler Newton went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs while throwing six innings and earning the win on the mound Monday in Oakwood. T.J. Williams added a two-run home run for West Hall (4-7, 2-7 Region 8-AAA), which visits Lumpkin County at 5:55 p.m. Wednesday.

BUFORD 11, THERRELL 0: Jake Burnette (1-0) threw three innings, striking out seven and surrendering no hits to earn the win Monday in Buford. Kyler Berrett hit a home run with two RBIs, Sam Clay hit a two-run triple, and Tyler White added a two-run double and three RBIs for Buford (9-1, 3-0 Region 6-AA), which visits South Atlanta at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Golf

GAINESVILLE GIRLS WIN INVITATIONAL (SATURDAY): The Lady Red Elephants combined to card a 183 and take first place in the Chattahoochee Invitational held at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. White County placed fourth and was led by Jodi Samples (91) and Brittan Slaton (105). West Hall placed second at 194, while Habersham Central (203) and North Hall (207) placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

On the boys side, Gainesville placed second with a 308, six strokes behind Westminster. Habersham Central (311) was fourth, North Hall (313) was fifth and Lumpkin County was sixth (333). White County’s boys and girls will play Johnson at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mossy Creek. The Gainesville boys will face Lumpkin County and North Hall at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Achasta in Dahlonega, while the Lady Red Elephants will face off against Habersham Central at 4 p.m. at Innsbruck. West Hall’s boys and girls play Lanier at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Sugar Hill.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 2, RABUN GAP 0: Alexis Rebollar scored twice, giving her 19 goals on the season, in the win Monday in Gainesville. Chestatee (7-3-0) visits Lanier at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

HEBRON CHRISTIAN BOYS 4, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 1: Nathan Zottnick scored the lone goal for Lakeview (3-6, 0-3 Region 8-A), which hosts George Walton at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

HEBRON CHRISTIAN GIRLS 6, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 0: The Lady Lions (5-3, 1-2 Region 8-A) host George Walton at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Tennis

NORTH HALL GIRLS 3, WHITE COUNTY 2: The teams of Valerie Bohannon/Kari Butts and Katie Smith/Ava Voss swept doubles in the win Monday in Gainesville. Morgan Van Meter earned a win at No. 2 singles for North Hall, which visits Chestatee at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Sara Beth Cummins and Taylor Freeman won singles for White County, which hosts Stephens County at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 5, WHITE COUNTY 0:
Mitch McCray won No. 1 singles in straight games Tuesday in Gainesville. North Hall faces Chestatee at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

CHESTATEE BOYS 3, STEPHENS COUNTY 2: Jonathan Cook and the team of Pearce Gruenefelder/Blaine Brown won in straight sets Monday for Chestatee (6-2 Region 8A-AAA), which hosts North Hall at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

CHESTATEE GIRLS 3, STEPHENS COUNTY 2: The team of Emily Elder/Sara Beth Tankersley won in straight sets on Monday for Chestatee, which hosts North Hall at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
