Adams leads White County to win

In his first career varsity appearance, White County freshman Spencer Adams threw a complete game and compiled six strikeouts in a 4-2 win against Chestatee on Saturday in Cleveland.

Brett Westmoreland led the Warriors (4-1, 4-1 Region 8-AAA) with a two-run double. David Sosebee and Kyle Mills each added an extra base hit for White County.

Lucas Bennett had a double for Chestatee.

White County plays host to Walnut Grove at 5:55 p.m. on Monday in Cleveland.

EAST JACKSON 4, JEFFERSON 3: Drew Carson led the Dragons (2-5, 1-4 Region 8-AA) with three hits and an RBI on Saturday in Commerce. Andy Nicholas also drove in a run for Jefferson, which faces Jackson County at 5:55 on Monday in Jefferson.

JOHNSON 8, LANIER 7: A.J. Benefied had a two-run home run and an RBI single for the Knights (4-3, 3-2 Region 8-AAA) on Saturday in Oakwood.

Trae Wilson added a solo home run for the Knights. Taylor Whitmire and Logan Pethel each added a single for Johnson. The Knights visit Monroe Area on Monday.

WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 7, MURRAY COUNTY 0:
Kaitlyn Hooper erupted for five goals and an assist in the Mountain Madness Invitational on Saturday in Blue Ridge.

Brie Ballinger and Kaitlyn Gearing each added a goal for the Lady Warriors (9-0, 4-0 Region 8-AAA), which play host to West Hall at 5:30 on Tuesday in Cleveland.

WHITE COUNTY GIRLS 4, FANNIN COUNTY 1: Hooper scored a pair of goals for the Lady Warriors, along with one each from Savannah Castles and Tiara Olson.

NORTH HALL BOYS 4, LANIER 1 (Friday): Adrian Guadarama, Dillon Martin and Tony Gonzales each scored for the Trojans on Friday.

Jorge Mejia, a defender, rounded out the night with a goal. North Hall visits Lumpkin County on Tuesday 7:30.

Golf
GAINESVILLE GIRLS TAKE FOURTH AT SPRING SWING:
Morgan Reece's 87 and Madeline Harr's 88 led the Lady Red Elephants (175) to a fourth place finish on Saturday in the 18-team field at Mossy Creek Golf Course in Cleveland.

Malorie Smith shot an 89 for West Hall (181) en route to sixth place overall.

Brittan Slaton shot a 91 and Jodi Samples carded a 92 for White County (183), which placed seventh.

Top three teams were Lambert (152), Milton (160) and West Forsyth (164).

NORTH HALL BOYS EARN SEVENTH PLACE: Jackson Berry shot a 77 for the Trojans boys en route a seventh place finish in the Gwinnett Open at the Chimney's Course in Winder.

Ryan Matthews and Andy Bracewell each carded a 79 for the Trojans, which earned 147 points using a modified stableford points system.

Hunter Young carded an 80 for North Hall, who takes part in the Hall County championships on Monday at Royal Lakes.

Track
BARGER WINS 2 MILE:
North Hall senior Cody Barger placed first in the 3,200-meter run and fourth in the 1,600 in the Jerry Arnold Challenge on Saturday at Mill Creek High in Hoschton.

Brandon Lawson finished fifth in the 800 and took eighth in the 1,600. Randy Olson placed seventh in the high jump.

Tennis
WEST HALL BOYS 5, LANIER 0 (Friday):
Max Wilson, Connor McFall and Min Kim all won in singles for the Spartans on Friday. West Hall faces Johnson on Tuesday.
