Gainesville routs Monroe Area

David Gonzalez threw a complete game, giving up two hits and striking out nine, as the Gainesville baseball team defeated Monroe Area, 10-0, in five innings on Thursday at Ivey-Watson Field.

Stephen Mason scored three runs and stole three bases and Michael Lorentz went 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases for Gainesville (4-1, 2-1 Region 8B-AAA), which faces West Hall at 5:55 p.m. Friday at Ivey-Watson.

WEST HALL GIRLS 76, STEPHENS COUNTY 86: Malorie Smith carded a 37 and Natalie Mathias fired a 39 to give the Lady Spartans the 7-hole win Thursday at Royal Lakes. West Hall plays in the Spring Swing tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mossy Creek.

EAST HALL BOYS 5, DAWSON COUNTY 0: Dane Allen won in straight games at No. 1 singles to lead the Vikings to their third straight win Thursday in Gainesville. East Hall (3-1, 2-0 Region 8A-AA) host Rabun County at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 5, CLARKE CENTRAL 0:
Anna Kate Shaw, Elizabeth Mallory and the teams of Dani Taylor/Durden Smith and Madison Smith/Bekki Benton won in straight games Thursday in Flowery Branch. The Lady Falcons (9-1) host Apalachee at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 5, CLARKE CENTRAL 0:
Taylor Fiorello won No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, on Thursday in Flowery Branch. The Falcons host Apalachee at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The doubles teams of Suzanne Smith/Mady Wuest and Conner English/Logan Brown won in straight games in the pro-set match Thursday at Walnut Grove. Gainesville faces Flowery Branch at 4 p.m. Monday at Longwood Park.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 5, WALNUT GROVE 0: The doubles team of Jake Maddox and Austinn Miller won in straight games in the pro-set match Thursday at Walnut Grove. Gainesville visits Oconee County at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
