High school scoreboard: Johnson moves up in standings

The Johnson High boys basketball team moved into a tie for first place in Region 7B-AAA with a key 54-42 win against West Forsyth on Tuesday in Oakwood.

The Knights (10-6, 2-1 Region 7B-AAA) sit atop the subregion alongside East Hall and Gainesville.
Grant Cagle led Johnson with 11 points. Tre Dudley added 11 rebounds for the Knights.

Kris Drees led West Forsyth with 13 points.

Johnson visits Flowery Branch at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Chestatee boys 61, White County 48

Andrew Gibson led the War Eagles with 13 points Tuesday at Chestatee High.

Branden Jovaag and Brandon Smith each had 12 points for Chestatee (8-9, 4-2 Region 7A-AAA) and Lamar Brooks added 10 points.

Ashely Lowery and Luke Crumley led White County with 17 points each.

Chestatee plays host to Lumpkin County at 8:30 p.m. Friday. White County (4-13, 2-4 Region 7A-AAA) visits Pickens at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Chestatee girls 65, White County 38

Peyton Robertson recorded her second double-double in three games with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Chelsea Wilson scored 16 points for the Lady War Eagles on Tuesday at Chestatee High.

Melissa Bailey added 12 points for Chestatee (10-7, 5-1 Region 7A-AAA). Rachel Kelly scored eight points and had seven rebounds.

Chestatee plays host to Lumpkin County at 7 p.m. Friday. White County (3-14, 0-6 Region 7A-AAA) visits Pickens at 7 p.m. Friday.

North Hall boys 55, Lumpkin County 39

The Trojans outscored Lumpkin County 15-3 in the fourth quarter to secure a win and stay unbeaten in subregion play Tuesday at North Hall High.

Robby Hill scored 11 points for the Trojans (11-5, 5-0 Region 7A-AAA).

E.J. Young led Lumpkin County with 13 points.

North Hall plays host to East Hall at 6 p.m. Saturday. Lumpkin County (8-7, 3-3 Region 7A-AAA) visits Chestatee at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

North Hall girls 53, Lumpkin County 38

Taylor Swoszowski scored 15 points and McKenna Rushton added 10 for the Lady Trojans on Tuesday at North Hall High.

Cara Malone led Lumpkin County with 16 points.

North Hall (7-11, 2-4 Region 7A-AAA) plays host to East Hall at 7 p.m. Saturday. Lumpkin County (3-12, 1-5 Region 7A-AAA) visits Chestatee at 7 p.m. Friday.

Lakeview Academy boys 76, Athens Academy 68

Haughton Carswell scored 22 points to lead the Lions on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Ross Biegler scored 17 points and Tyler Ward added 16 points for Lakeview (12-6, 8-1 Region 8-A).

Jeremy Burgess scored 26 points for Athens Academy. Joey Miller added 20 points.

Lakeview plays host to Prince Avenue Christian at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Lakeview Academy girls 51, Athens Academy 31

The Lady Lions rebounded from last Friday’s loss with a dominant win Tuesday in Gainesville.

Brittany Moore led Lakeview (11-3, 9-1 Region 8-A) with 14 points, Maddie Haymore scored 12 points and Louisa Jacobs added 10 points.

Emily O’Rear scored 16 points for Athens Academy.

Lakeview plays host to Prince Avenue Christian at 7 p.m. Friday.

Buford boys 46, Lovett 40

With the game tied at 37 at the end of regulation, the Wolves outscored Lovett 9-3 in overtime to earn their second straight win Tuesday in Atlanta.

Ja’Kar Bridges led Buford (4-10, 3-3 Region 6-AA) with 18 points. T.J. Shipes added 10 points.

Michael Steele led the Lions with 12 points.

Buford plays host to Avondale at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Buford girls 59, Lovett 46

Blanche Alverson’s 22 points led a Lady Wolves team who won their 13th straight game Tuesday in Atlanta.

Andraya Carter also scored in double figures for Buford (14-1, 6-0 Region 6-AA), with 14 points.

Tatianna Jackson scored 20 points for Lovett.

Buford plays host to Avondale at 7 p.m. Friday.

Jefferson boys 78, Banks County 53

Darius Minor scored 20 points as the Dragons won their fourth straight while handing Banks County its first subregion loss Tuesday in Homer.

Chris Beck, Demetri Robinson and J.J. Damons each scored 10 points for Jefferson (13-3, 2-0 Region 8B-AA).

Ryan Griffin led the Leopards (12-5, 2-1 Region 8B-AA) with 17 points. Kane Duncan added 12 points.

Jefferson visits East Jackson at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Banks County visits Dawson County at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Jefferson girls 51, Banks County 39

Emily Jacobs and Erin Knight each scored 13 points as the Lady Dragons stayed unbeaten in subregion play Tuesday in Homer.

Callie Holloway and Summer Bartek each contributed 10 points for Jefferson (4-12, 2-0 Region 8B-AA).

Lauren Kennedy led Banks County (4-12, 2-0 Region 8B-AA) with 18 points.

Jefferson visits East Jackson at 7 p.m. Friday. Banks County (6-11, 1-2 Region 8B-AA) visits Dawson County at 7 p.m. Friday.

North Oconee boys 55, Riverside Military 49

Brandon McKinney led Riverside with 21 points Tuesday in Bogart.

Dawson Kilcrease led North Oconee with 16 points.

Riverside (4-6, 3-3 Region 8A-AA) plays host to Union County at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
