Senior Rebecka Merritt scored her 1,000th career point on Monday and led Union County (11-2) to a 72-28 win against Andrews (N.C.) in Blairsville. Merritt totaled 16 points, all in the first half, for the Lady Panthers. Callie Payne scored 12 points and Catie Tanner finished with 10 points for Union County.

The Lady Panther travel to Hayesville (N.C.) at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

UNION COUNTY BOYS 72, ANDREWS (N.C.) 55: Junior Rhett McCombs led the Panthers (8-5) with a season-high 36 points Monday night in Blairsville. James Rowe had 19 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for Union County.

The Panthers travel to Hayesville (N.C.) 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
