High school scoreboard: Indians get 5th straight subregion win Friday night, lost Saturday night

The Lumpkin County High boys basketball team picked up its fifth straight subregion win with a 51-36 triumph over White County on Friday in Dahlonega.

E.J. Young scored 22 points for the Indians (13-8, 8-3 Region 7A-AAA). Tyler Dotson led White County with 13 points.

Lumpkin County visits Flowery Branch at 7:30 p.m. today. White County (6-15, 4-6 Region 7A-AAA) visits West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. today.

Flowery Branch girls 43, Lumpkin County 26

Jessica Harper scored a career-high 26 points to lead the Lady Falcons Saturday night at Flowery Branch. Chara Chilton chipped in 12 points and Clare Tyler 10 rebounds for Flowery Branch (8-14)

The Lady Indians (4-17) were led by Ashley Brown who had 16 points.

Flowery Branch returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson while Lumpkin County will conclude its regular season at 7 p.m. Friday when it plays host to North Hall.

Flowery Branch boys 51, Lumpkin County 43

Brian Welchel led the Falcons with 12 points and Ishmael Hollis added 11 Saturday night at Flowery Branch.

Shawn Chapman and E.J. Young were the leading scorers for the Indians (13-9) with 12 points each.

Flowery Branch (12-10) next plays at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson while Lumpkin County will finish out its regular season when it plays host to North Hall at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Buford girls 53, Gainesville 38

Lady Wolves freshman Andraya Carter had 22 points and Auburn commit Blanche Alverson added 15 Saturday night in Buford.

Gainesville (13-9) was led by Jaymee Carnes with 19 points.

Buford (21-1) returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to Decatur. Gainesville next plays host to West Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Gainesville boys 61, Buford 46

The Red Elephants outscored Buford 13-4 in the first quarter en route to their second win against the Wolves on Saturday at Buford. George Manomano led Gainesville (11-9) with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Nick Johnson added 10 points and Juwon Jeffries eight points and 10 rebounds. A.J. Johnson also contributed 10 rebounds for the Red Elephants.

Buford (6-15) was led by Zac Lynn with 11 points.

Gainesville returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to West Hall. Buford next plays host to Decatur at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Jefferson girls 46, East Jackson 28

Emily Jacobs led the Lady Dragons with 15 in their win Saturday night in Jefferson.

East Jackson held a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter before Jefferson (9-13, 4-1 Region 8B-AA), the No. 2 team in Region 8B-AA, exploded offensively outscoring the Lady Eagles 36-17 in the remainder of the game.

Jefferson returns to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to Banks County.

Jefferson boys 59, East Jackson 48

Darius Minor led the Dragons with 17 points in their win Saturday night at Jefferson.

Chris Beck and Cab Martin each added 10 points for Jefferson (20-3, 6-1 Region 8B-AA).

Jefferson returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to Banks County.

White County boys 46, West Forsyth 44

Luke Crumley led White County with 23 points in its win Saturday night at West Forsyth.

West Forsyth (9-12) was led by Fineto Lunguana with 12 points.

White County (7-15) returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Hall.
