High school scoreboard: Flowery Branch tennis sweeps Walnut Grove

Annabelle Thomas won in singles in straight sets (6-0,6-0) on Tuesday in Flowery Branch’s 5-0 sweep against Walnut Grove. Olivia Correa (6-1,6-0) and Olivia Nance (6-0,6-0) also won in singles for the Lady Falcons.
Peyton Brick/Kylie McGuire (6-0,6-0) and Marissa Barrett/Brenna Martin (6-0.6-0) won in doubles for Flowery Branch.

The Lady Falcons move to 13-3 and 4-0 in Region 8-AAAAA play.

Flowery Branch’s next match is on Thursday against Loganville.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 5, WALNUT GROVE 0: Drayton Matus (6-0,6-0), Tucker Smallwood (6-0,6-0) and Gunnar Hetzel (6-0,6-0) were single winners for Flowery Branch.
John Hollis/Brady McVey (6-0,6-0) and Dominick Garcia/Nate Shedd (6-0,6-0) won in doubles for the Falcons.
Flowery Branch is now 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA play.

JOHNSON GIRLS 5, CEDAR SHOALS 0: Julia Kay Mallory (6-1 6-1), Sloane Sengson (6-0,6-0), and Arianna Granski (default) won in singles for Johnson.
Alejandra Delgado/Perla Rivera (6-0, 6-0) and Anna Cooper/Isa Martinez (6-0,6-1) won in doubles for the Lady Knights.

Johnson moves to 7-1.

NORTH HALL GIRLS 5, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0: Anna Montgomery (6-1,6-2), Sydney Patterson (6-0,6-0) and Lauren White (6-1,6-0) were single winners for the Lady Trojans.

Christen Barnes/Lauren Davis (6-0,6-0) and Baylee Turner/Ella Oxley (6-1,6-0) won in doubles. North Hall is now 8-4 and 4-0 in Region 7-AAA play.

North Hall plays Fannin County on Thursday.

NORTH HALL BOYS 4, LUMPKIN COUNTY 0: Masa Kobayashi (6-2, 6-2) and Christian Boychuk (6-1,6-3) won in singles for North Hall.

Kody Dills was leading by one set 6-4 when the match was suspended. Daniel Martin/Shawn Wallhausen (6-2,6-2) and Adam Turcotte/Ethan Surles (6-0,6-3) won in doubles for North Hall.

North Hall is now 7-5 and 3-1 in Region 7-AAA.

North Hall faces Fannin County on Thursday.

BUFORD GIRLS 5, LOGANVILLE 0: Bailey McCammon, Kenzie Walters, and Savanna Klem were Buford’s single winners. Tamia Wayne/Emma Place and Gabby Benson/Sydney Grothe won at doubles for the Lady Wolves.

BUFORD BOYS 5, LOGANVILLE 0: Brady Todd, Dalton Counts, and Trent Milton won in singles for Buford. Cameron DeLoach/Alex Pruitt and Cole Tarleton/Luke Davidson.
 
Baseball
MARIST 3, NORTH HALL 1: Corban Meeler threw five strikeouts over six innings for the Trojans. Jackson Latty scored for the Trojans while teammates Dylan Lavender and Drew Hubbard each had a hit.

North Hall is now 11-4.

North Hall host Marist at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday in Gainesville.

PINECREST BOYS 9, RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 4: Jensen Hess scored twice for the Eagles. Sheymus Maloney and Gage Roth both had one goal apiece for the Eagles. Chase Kaufman added an assist for Riverside Military.

Riverside Military hosts Lanier at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Maginnis Field.

NORTH HALL GIRLS BLANK UNION COUNTY: April Lothridge’s goal lifted North Hall to a 1-0 win against Union County on Tuesday at the Brickyard in Gainesville.
 
Katie Sullens recorded the shutout as goalkeeper for the Lady Trojans.

North Hall hosts White County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Brickyard.

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 1, JOHNSON 0: Allyson Lusco scored the lone goal midway through the second half for the Lady Falcons.

Kelsey Mathis recorded 11 saves in the shutout. Flowery Branch is now 6-5-1 overall and 3-1 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Flowery Branch visits East Hall on Tuesday.

EAST HALL BOYS 6, STEPHENS COUNTY 1: East Hall’s goalie Daniel Carrillo had three saves. Brandon Callahan, Brian Lopez, Oscar Gonzalez, Ben Kisebwe, Freddy Rebollar and Carlos Castrejon each scored a goal for the Vikings (9-2, 2-0 Region AAA).

The game was called due to bad weather with 25 minutes left in the second half.

East Hall hosts Lumpkin County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at Vikings Stadium.
