High school scoreboard: Falcons stay on top

The Flowery Branch High boys basketball team stayed in the chase for the Region 7B-AAA lead with a 44-34 win against West Forsyth on Tuesday in Cumming.

After a 16-16 tie at halftime, the Falcons (10-7, 4-1 Region 7B-AAA) became the better team in the second half, outscoring the Wolverines 28-18 to secure the subregion win.

Phillips Chau, Kyle Smith, Ishmael Hollis and Josh Barrett each scored eight points for Flowery Branch. Shaeem McLaren led West Forsyth with 10 points.

With the win, the Falcons remain tied with Gainesville for the subregion lead. The two teams will meet at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Gainesville High.

Flowery Branch girls 44, West Forsyth 42

The Lady Falcons broke a tie in final seconds of the game to earn its second straight win Tuesday in Cumming.

Jessica Harper led Flowery Branch (6-11, 2-3 Region 7B-AAA) with 19 points.

Claire Tyler added 10 points for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch visits Gainesville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville boys 80, Johnson 46

The Red Elephants jumped out to a 12-point lead at halftime and pulled ahead even more in the second half Tuesday in Oakwood.

George Manomano led Gainesville (9-7, 4-1 Region 7B-AAA) with 22 points. Nick Johnson added 12 points and Juwon Jeffries chipped in 11 points or the Red Elephants.

Gainesville plays host to Flowery Branch at 8:30 p.m. The winner will take the sole lead of the subregion.

Johnson plays host to East Hall at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville girls 57, Johnson 24

Jaymee Carnes and Rebecca Webster each scored 12 points as the Lady Red Elephants stayed unbeaten in subregion play Tuesday in Oakwood.

Kiki Thompson added 10 points for Gainesville (11-7, 5-0 Region 7B-AAA). Shelley Farley scored 10 points for Johnson.

Gainesville plays host to Flowery Branch at 7 p.m. Friday. Johnson plays host to East Hall at 7 p.m. Friday.

West Hall boys 65, East Hall 50

A strong second half that included a 24-point second quarter was the difference maker for the Spartans on Tuesday at East Hall High.

Kavon Williams led West Hall (14-1, 2-3 Region 7B-AAA) with 15 points. Marquise Stephens scored 12 points.

West Hall plays host to West Forsyth at 8:30 p.m. Friday. East Hall visits Johnson at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

East Hall girls 71, West Hall 35

Jasmine Jenkins scored 12 points and Dorreka Faulker added 11 points as the Lady Vikings cruised to a subregion win Tuesday at East Hall High.

East Hall (11-6, 4-1 Region 7B-AAA) visits Johnson at 7 p.m. Friday. West Hall (8-11, 2-3 Region 7B-AAA) plays host to West Forsyth at 7 p.m. Friday.

Lakeview Academy boys 82,  Hebron Christian 45

Haughton Carswell scored 17 points as the Lions won their ninth straight game Tuesday in Gainesville.

Tyler Ward scored 14 points for Lakeview (15-6, 10-1). Brett Armour added 10 points for the Lions.

Lakeview visits Athens Christian at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Lakeview Academy girls 63, Hebron Christian 33

Maddie Haymore scored 21 points as the Lady Lions earned their 11th win in the last 12 games Tuesday in Gainesville.

Megan Rochester also scored in double figures for Lakeview (12-4, 10-1 Region 8-A), with 15 points. Brittany Moore added 13 points.

Lakeview visits Athens Christian at 7 p.m. Friday.

Riverside Military 81, Rabun County 70

Richard Tribble scored a season-high 25 points, with 21 coming in the second half as the Eagles stayed perfect in subregion play Tuesday in Tiger.

Brandon McKinney added 20 points and Josh Davis scored 11 points for Riverside (6-6, 4-0 Region 8A-AA).

Riverside plays host to Dawson County at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Lumpkin County boys 52, Pickens 42

Shawn Chapman recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Indians on Tuesday in Dahlonega.

Austin Tolbert also scored in double figures for Lumpkin County (10-7, 5-3 Region 7A-AAA), with 10 points.

Lumpkin County visits Creekview at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Pickens girls 58, Lumpkin County 57

Despite leading the entire game through three quarters, the Lady Indians were unable to hold off a late Pickens rally Tuesday in Dahlonega.

Cara Malone and Ashley Brown each scored 17 points for Lumpkin County (3-14, 1-5 Region 7A-AAA).

Jefferson boys 57, North Oconee 48

Darius Minor scored 19 points and J.J. Damons added 10 points as the Dragons increased their winning streak to seven games Tuesday in Jefferson.

Jefferson (16-3, 4-0 Region 8B-AA) visits Commerce at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

North Oconee girls 35, Jefferson 30

The Lady Dragons’ three-game winning streak was snapped in a subregion contest Tuesday in Jefferson.

Buford girls 63, Cross Keys 19

The Lady Wolves shut out Cross Keys in the first quarter and never looked back, picking up their 15th straight win Tuesday in Atlanta.

Shereese Williams led Buford (16-1, 8-0 Region 6-AA) with 15 points. Karly Fullem added 13 points.

Buford boys 76, Cross Keys 52

Ja’Kar Bridges scored 19 points, T.J. Shipes scored 13 points and Ty Holley chipped in 10 points as the Wolves won Tuesday in Atlanta.

White County boys 49, Creekview 40

Down by one at halftime, the Warriors outplayed Creekview in the second half to overthrow the Grizzlies on Tuesday in Cleveland.

North Hall splits road meet


The Trojans defeated Fannin County 51-30 and lost 39-34 to Fannin County in a tri-meet Tuesday in Dawsonville.

Taylor Campbell (119 pounds), Wesley Adams (125), Nick Quinn (135), Cody Wilsdon (145) and Steven Flanagan (285) each had two wins for North Hall.
