Breana Fair scored a hat trick, and Alyssa Turner added two goals for the Gainesville girls in a 7-0 win against North Hall on Friday at City Park Stadium. Carolina Nabb and Margaret Carpenter both notched a goal apiece for the Lady Red Elephants.
No. 6 Gainesville (15-2, 10-0 Region 8-AAAAA) will next host Paulding County 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the first round of the Class AAAAA state tournament.
GAINESVILLE BOYS 6, NORTH HALL 0: Omar Perez scored a pair of goals, while Diego Porras, Christian Rodriguez, Dunio Turcios, Darian Alarcon all added strikes in Friday’s win.
Gainesville (11-5, 8-2 Region 8-AAAAA) will next play in the Class AAAAA state playoffs against an opponent still to be determined.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 2, HEBRON CHRISTIAN 1: Carmen Wagner pulled off a pair of second-half goals to lift Lakeview to a road win that clinched a Region 8-A championship.
Wagner was assisted by Madison Smith and Emma Reinhardt on the two goals.
FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 4, WEST HALL 1 (TUESDAY): Madi Shewbert, Mara Wheat, Allyson Lusco and Morgan Wadsworth scored the goals for the Lady Falcons.
FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 2, DISCOVERY 0 (THURSDAY): Halie Windish and Morgan Wadsworth got the goals as the Lady Falcons, which finished the season at 7-10.
TRACK & FIELD
Gainesville High’s Jada Harrison led a strong performance by the Red Elephants at this week’s Region 8-AAAAA championships.
Harrison finished in second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.64 seconds) and had a third place finish in the 300 hurdles (48.69). She was also part of the 400-meter relay which finished in third place (50.55), along with Tanisha Watson, Samiyah Toomer and Nala Jones.
Jones had a fourth-place finish in the 200 meter (27.05).
The Gainesville boys 400 meter relay team of Manny Remes, Myron Dabney, Cameron Sturdivant and Isaac Teasley finished in third place.
